Birthday Blessings from a World Away

We just wrapped up celebrating Penny Love's 4th birthday party a few weeks ago, complete with streamers, balloons, a visit to Chuck E. Cheese, friends, smiles, cake, presents and plenty of laughter.  It was a wonderful day to celebrate.

On February 18th, Jack will turn 2 years old.  I desperately want to be there to lavish him with love and care and gifts and joy.  I am hopeful that it won't be long before we can begin to form trust and relationship with our son.  But the reality is that in three weeks, our son turns 2 on the other side of the world, in a government run orphanage with 350 other children, sometimes several to a crib or bed.  He has had three major surgeries in an hospital without his mama or baba there to wipe his tears or hold his hand as he underwent general anesthesia and spent weeks at a time in a recovery wing of the hospital.

So I had a crazy idea… what if we threw him a birthday party, Facebook style?  What if the people that have following his story, who are praying for him and encouraged us along the journey of his adoption, came together and helped us to celebrate his life even before he is here?  Of course, a traditional birthday party is a bit out of the question (and don't worry Jack!… there is plenty of good ole' fashion bday party fun in your future!).

Would you consider joining us in showing Jack how many people are pulling for him and cheering for him?  Aside from our adoption expenses to bring him home, we will be buying donations for his orphanage when we are in China. With your help, we can pay forward the blessing and joy of gifts to those kiddos that are not being adopted.

Thank you doesn't even begin to express how grateful we are for every email, every text, every financial gift, every prayer that you have given us on Jack's behalf.  We cannot wait to introduce him to all of you!  And we cannot wait to share with him that, even though there were miles and oceans between us, on his second birthday people were celebrating his life.

If you would like to give a birthday gift to Jack, you can either send it to our family directly (message me for info) or you can give to our adoption fundraising account at Adopt Together, where you gift will be tax deductible.

Thank you for loving us and most of all, for loving Jack, as we wait to bring him home!

Heidi
